We Moved! New Japanese Apartment Tour

So I recently got kicked out of my old tiny Japanese apartment that was my residence for the last 3 years and needed to find a new place to live within a month.. Long story short, the place did not allow non-company staff to live there. It was a company dorm for singles only apparently.

Fortunately, it was moving season in Japan and there were a ton of available options and Thuong (my wife) and I were able to find an apartment nearby our old apartment and complete all of the paperwork to move in within the month! 馃檪

Before beginning our search, I was a bit worried because I had heard stories of discrimination against foreigners, but I fortunately did not experience any of that. One annoying thing was having to pay extra money for a “guarantor”, but that was about it. It probably helps that I have a semi-long term visa (5 years), and also was able to speak Japanese to everyone throughout the whole process.

In any case, minus the stress that comes with moving all of your possessions, it felt amazing to move into our giant new apartment (about 55 square meters) after living in a tiny single apartment for the last 3 years.

Here’s a few videos I took documenting the experience.
